Courses and lessons

In short: Click Courses in Academy to see every course. Filter by track, by Available now or Coming soon, or search by name. Open a course and click Start learning. Each lesson ends with Mark as complete and Next lesson →. When you're signed in, your progress is saved to your SciNodes account and shown on course cards and in My learning.

Find a course

  1. Go to academy.scinodes.com and click Courses. The page says "Every topic in the SciNodes Academy catalog. Filter by track, or search by name."
  2. Type in "Search courses…". Results update after a short pause, or when you press Enter.
  3. Click a track chip to show only that track. The number on the chip is how many courses it has. Click it again to remove the filter.
  4. Click Available now or Coming soon to filter by availability.
  5. Switch between Grid and List layouts.
  6. Click Clear filters to see the whole catalog again.

The catalog shows 12 courses per page. Use the page numbers at the bottom to see more.

What a course card shows

  • The title and a short summary.
  • The number of lessons and Explore →, or a progress bar once you've completed a lesson.
  • A bookmark button. Its tooltip says Save for later, or Remove from saved if you've saved the course.

"Coming soon" cards show a "Coming soon" badge and can't be opened yet.

Browse a track

  1. On the Academy home page, find the track's section and click View track →.
  2. The track page shows its title, summary and "N courses", with a card for each course.
  3. Click Courses at the top to go back to the full catalog.

What a course page shows

  • A "Coming soon" badge, if the course isn't ready.
  • The title, summary and length, for example "2 lessons · 15 min".
  • Your progress, for example "1 of 2 lessons complete", once you've started.
  • The main button: Start learning, Continue or Review course.
  • Save for later, which changes to Saved when the course is saved. Click Saved to remove it.
  • Lessons: a numbered list with each lesson's reading time, for example "9 min read". Completed lessons show a tick.
  • Further reading: articles that go alongside the course, if it has any. Read them in any order.

If a course has no lessons yet, you see "Lessons for this course are still being written. Save it and we'll have it ready soon."

  4. Click Mark as complete. The button changes to Completed. Click it again to undo.
  5. Click Next lesson →, or use Next → and ← Previous at the bottom. After the last lesson, Back to course returns you to the course page.
