Browse popular research keywords

In short: In SciVerse, Keywords in the footer opens "Popular keywords": the 50 most-cited keywords in the catalog, each with the number of publications that carry it. Click a keyword to open its page, which lists those publications 25 per page. Topic tags on search results also open keyword pages. Keyword pages are free and need no sign-in.

  1. Go to sciverse.scinodes.com.
  2. Scroll to the footer. Under Browse by topic, click Keywords. You can also go straight to sciverse.scinodes.com/keywords.
  3. The page "Popular keywords" says "Ranked by total citations — select one to explore its publications."
  4. Each chip shows a keyword and how many publications carry it.
  5. Click a chip to open the keyword's page.

What a keyword page shows

  • The label "Keyword" and the keyword itself.
  • "N publications": the catalog's total for this keyword.
  • The publications, 25 per page, with Next → and ← Previous. Each card shows the year, citations, badges and topic tags, and has Add to SciNodes.
  • "← Back to keywords" to return to the list.

A keyword page address is the keyword in lowercase with hyphens, for example /keyword/machine-learning. You can type an address like this to go straight to a keyword. If it isn't a keyword in the catalog, you see "Keyword not found".

Keywords and topics

SciVerse has both keywords and topics. They overlap but aren't the same.

Not every topic is also a keyword. If you click a topic tag and the catalog has no keyword with that name, the keyword page says "Keyword not found". Topic pages aren't available yet (coming soon). See Upcoming SciVerse pages.

Tips

  • See what a field publishes most: open a keyword, then click Add to SciNodes on the publications you want to analyze.
  • Search within a topic: keywords aren't a search tab. To narrow a search to a topic, use Refine by → Topic → Include. See Filters and sorting.

FAQ

By total citations: the keywords whose publications are cited most come first. The number on each chip is how many publications carry the keyword.

Can I search for a keyword?

Keywords aren't a search tab and the Keywords page has no search box. Type the keyword into the address, for example /keyword/machine-learning, or search the term on the main search page.

Why does the list stop at 50 keywords?

The Keywords page shows the 50 most-cited keywords. Other keywords are still reachable through topic tags and by address.

Do keyword pages use credits?

No. Keyword pages are free for everyone, signed in or not.
