Recycle bin
In short: When you delete a project, it goes to the Bin instead of disappearing. Open Bin in the sidebar to Restore a project or Delete it permanently. Empty Trash permanently removes everything in the Bin. Each project shows how many days are left of its 60-day period.
Delete a project
Only the project owner can delete a project.
- Open the project and click the Overview tab.
- Click the gear icon next to the project name to open Project Settings.
- Under Lifecycle, click Delete project.
- Type the project name exactly as shown.
- Click I understand, delete project.
"Deleted "project name"." confirms it, and you return to your project list. Collaborators lose access straight away.
A project also goes to the Bin if you leave the New Project form and choose Stop and discard while it's building.
Restore a project
- Click Bin in the sidebar.
- Find the project. Each card shows when it was deleted and "N days until permanent deletion".
- Click Restore.
A "Project restored" notification confirms that it's back in your projects, with its corpus, maps and notes.
Delete a project permanently
- Click Bin in the sidebar.
- Click Delete on the project's card.
- In "Delete this project permanently?", wait for the short countdown, then click Delete.
A "Project deleted" notification confirms it. This can't be undone.
Empty the Bin
- Click Bin in the sidebar.
- Click Empty Trash in the header.
- In "Empty bin?", wait for the countdown, then click Empty Trash.
A "Trash emptied" notification confirms how many projects were removed. This can't be undone.
The 60-day period
The Bin says "Items in the bin are automatically deleted after 60 days." and counts down the days for each project. Automatic deletion at the end of the 60 days is coming soon. Until then, projects stay in the Bin until you delete them yourself.
Options

| Grid view / List view | Header | Changes how the Bin is laid out |
Troubleshooting
- "Only the project owner can delete it." You're an Editor or Viewer. Ask the owner, or leave the project instead. See Collaboration.
- "Bin is empty" There are no deleted projects. "Deleted projects will appear here for 60 days before being permanently removed."
- "Could not load the bin" SciNodes couldn't fetch the Bin. Click Try again.
- The delete dialog warns that this can't be undone. The Project Settings dialog uses strong wording, but the project still goes to the Bin first, where you can restore it.
