Project overview
In short: The Overview tab is a project's home page. It shows the project name and description (both editable), your most recent maps, notes and chats, how many publications, authors, venues and research objects you've collected, and who did what recently. Use it to pick up where you left off.
Open the Overview
- Open a project from My Projects or Shared.
- Click the Overview tab at the top.
Edit the name and description
- Click the pencil icon next to the project name ("Rename project") or next to the description ("Edit project description").
- Type your changes and press
Enter, or click away. "Saved ✓" confirms the change.
If there's no description yet, you see "No description yet". Under the name, the page shows when the project was last updated and whether it's a Private Project or a Shared Project.
The gear icon next to the name opens Project Settings. See Project settings.

Recent activity
Each entry names the action, who did it (on shared projects) and when. Actions that were later undone are marked "undone". Before anything has happened, it says: "Nothing has happened in this project yet. Adding publications, building a map or writing a note will show up here."
Tips
- Plot New Map opens Expert Mode, where you choose the map type yourself. To start from a question instead, use the Map queries bar on the Research Maps tab. See Create a map from a question.
- The Publications count is what you've saved to My references, not the whole corpus. See Folders.
- Collaborators see the same Overview, including activity by every member. See Collaboration.
FAQ
How do I rename a project?
Click the pencil icon next to the project name on the Overview tab, type the new name and press Enter. You can also rename it in Project Settings → General.
Why does the Publications count look small?
It counts publications saved to My references, not every publication in the corpus. Open the Library tab to see the whole corpus.
I hid the introduction panel. How do I get it back?
It stays hidden in the browser where you closed it. It shows again in a different browser, or if your browser's site data is cleared.
What does "undone" mean in Recent Activity?
Someone made that change and then used undo. The entry stays in the activity list.
